Description
Koro WoodStain Finish Paint is a 2-in-1 product that combines paint for wood (stain) and a glossy finish for wood. The product is manufactured from a water-modified polyurethane polymer hybrid base combined with nano-sized color particles, which helps to enhance the beauty of the inherent wood grain and best protects the wood surface thanks to the durability of Polyurethane.
Key features
Koro WoodStain Finish Paint has excellent adhesion on many surfaces, so it is suitable for both raw wood surfaces and old wooden surfaces that have been previously painted with other paints such as oil paints, solvents... It is very hard, glossy and tough, so it can be used for most wood items both indoors and outdoors. The paint's durability is much higher than that of solvent-based paints thanks to its excellent resistance to UVs, water, alkalis, moss and mildew.
In addition, because the paint is water-based, one-component, the VOCs are low, and it does not contain lead and mercury. The construction is very convenient, easy, safe with the health of the construction, the user and friendly with the environment.
Koro WoodStain Finish Paint is available in a variety of colors and comes in two brush and spray versions.

For raw, new wood surfaces
-
Seal, fill, and smooth screw holes, cracks, pins, and other defects in the wood surface using Koro Wood Filler.
-
Sand and smooth the wood using 120/240 sandpaper.
-
Thoroughly clean and dry the wood, removing any dirt, grease stains, fingerprints, and sawdust.
-
Ensure the wood surface has a moisture content of 8-12%.
-
Prior to applying Koro WoodStain Finish, consider treating the surface with a single layer of transparent primer, such as Koro Sanding Sealer. This will enhance the evenness, smoothness, and shine of the final color.
For stained old wood surfaces
-
Thoroughly clean and dry the wood, ensuring removal of dirt, grease, peeling, and glue.
-
Gently rub the wood surface using 320 sandpaper to enhance adhesion. After sanding, wipe off the dust.
Note: When working with an old wooden background, the final color will be significantly influenced by the existing background color. To achieve the desired color from the Koro paint palette, it is necessary to thoroughly sand and remove the previous layer of paint.
Tools
Brush, brush (the finer the brush, the less streaks of the brush) or spray gun. Construction tools must be clean.
Paint Application
-
Gently and evenly stir the product from the bottom to the top. Stir occasionally during use. Avoid vigorous shaking to prevent air bubbles.
-
Always test Koro Woodstain Finish on a piece of wood to determine the desired tone and the number of layers needed for the finished product.
-
Dip the brush into the paint jar and remove excess paint by brushing it against the inside wall of the jar. Apply a thin and even layer along the wood grain direction. Tilt the brush at a 45-degree angle and lightly sweep across the wood to minimize air bubbles and brush strokes.
For spray application
-
Adjust the nozzle and air pressure to achieve the desired paint volume for creating a paint film with an estimated thickness of 100-200 microns.
-
Each layer takes approximately 2-3 hours to dry (drying time varies based on temperature, humidity, and application method).
-
Lightly sand with 400/600/1000 grit sandpaper before applying the second coat. Apply a third coat if a darker color is desired.
Note 1:
Drying time significantly affects the final quality of the product. It is influenced by ventilation, temperature, humidity, and construction method. Longer drying time may be required under high humidity, low temperature, or when applying paint over a pre-painted surface.
Note 2:
-
Apply the paint in an open space away from direct sunlight during drying to ensure even drying of the paint film and maintain quality.
-
Surface preparation and application methods may vary for different types of wood. Test paint compatibility, color, and adhesion on wood samples before applying over a large area.
-
Follow the instructions on the box label for application. Improper construction techniques may result in unsatisfactory outcomes.
-
Drying time is influenced by the temperature and humidity of the construction environment.
-
Clean construction tools with clean water after use.
